The number 559 is stamped beneath the crown. Like your gun, mine is marked on the top of the barrel release tang with 'Francotte Brevette' stamped on the sides of a crown.
The S/N is stamped on the bottom rib under the forearm and on the trigger guard tang. It is in good condition but since it is Damascus and used black powder shot shells it has some barrel pitting. The right barrel has just one 25, the letters JLF close together like initials, the number 19.4 (or 194 not clear), and another AF Crown symbol. The right barrel is hand stamped with 2525, the E over LG, and a different AF crown symbol. The gun is marked with the E over LG so I know it was made in Belgium. I assume that the AF crown symbol is the Auguste Francotte signature mark. Ther is a mark above the beavertail that is the AF crown symbol and the number 316 surrounded on the sides by the words FRANCOTTE and BREVETE. There are also some manufacturer marks with AF and a crown in several places. It is marked on top on the rib with the following: 8420 A.įrancotte Paris France B.
